The Makerbotz competition aims to inspire and challenge participants through a hands-on, problem-solving experience that empowers essential STEM skills and encourages creative innovation. By engaging with real-world challenges, the competition contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically goals 4 (Quality Education), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
Circuit Contest Image
Category 1 – Circuit Contest
Embark on an electrifying journey to transform a 3D puzzle into a mesmerizing spectacle of light! On competition day, you’ll receive a kit brimming with wires, LEDs, switches, batteries, a soldering iron, solder, and a circuit board.
Your challenge?
To harness your creativity and technical prowess, construct a dazzling circuit on the circuit board that will illuminate your 3D masterpiece. Race against time and unleash your inner innovator to craft a creation that will outshine the competition!
Participants would build their own circuits with uniform consumable items supplied by Be STEM Ready on the competition day. These materials will include, but are not limited to: limited length of wire, LED, switch, batteries, commercial circuit board, a wired brush, a soldering iron, and solder.
On the competition day, participants do not need to bring anything. They are challenged to carry out on-the-spot construction, soldering on the circuit board, testing, refinement, alignment, and fine-tuning. Participants are expected to complete all challenges within the allocated shortest time.
Climbing Robot Contest Image
Category 2 – Climbing Robot Contest
Embrace the thrill of on-the-spot innovation at the Be STEM Ready Robotics Challenge! You’ll be provided with a treasure trove of materials – from motors and gears to recycled wonders – and tasked with building a champion climbing robot on-site. This isn’t just about construction; it’s about rapid prototyping, testing, tweaking, and transforming your vision into reality. Be prepared to replicate key components, pushing your problem-solving skills to the limit.
Design, build, and refine the ultimate climbing robot to seize victory!
RC Football Contest Image
Category 3 – 4 Way RC Football Contest
Design and Build the Ultimate RC Football Car Team
Unleash your inner engineer and design a revolutionary RC car, complete with ingenious attachments engineered to dominate the gridiron. Think offensive “kicking” mechanisms, strategic defensive shields, and cunning maneuvers that will leave your opponents in the dust.
Then, transform your creation into a legend! Produce a thrilling 1-minute story that’s more than just a demonstration. Show the birth of your bot, the challenges you conquered, and the brilliant design choices that make it a force to be reckoned with.
Let the best storytelling, functional RC car win for State Competition!
Followed by the National Competition, the next challenge will go through physical competition for qualifying round and football round.
3D Dancing Robot Image
Category 4 – 3D Dancing Robot Contest
Participants will design, print, and construct a 3D dancing robot using 3D printing technology. The robot must be standing on two legs.
Participants will be provided with uniform consumable items supplied by Be STEM Ready, including but not limited to screws, wires, and specified electronic components. Participants are not allowed to use any additional electronic components beyond those provided, except for screws, wires, servo motors, or materials needed for the robot’s stability and/or aesthetic purposes.
For evaluation purposes, each participant must submit a 2-minute video demonstrating their 3D robot. This video should capture the entire robot and the electronic components used to animate it. Participants are free to use any software compatible with the provided electronic components for designing their 3D robot. This video will be judged based on creativity, technical execution, and storytelling.

Kuala Lumpur Maker Faire 2017 will be held in The School Jaya One, Malaysia’s first Enrichment Mall. Here’s how you get here: https://kualalumpur.makerfaire.com/directions/

What is an Enrichment Mall?

You may feel a little unaccustomed when you first browse The School. But that’s ok. We aren’t like other malls. For starters, we care about better education and we care about your needs as a parent.

That’s why more than a third of the establishments at The School are places for learning. We share your sentiment about the state of public schooling. We wish learning was more enriching, challenging in the right way, and more fun.

Now it can be.

We partnered with the best learning and enrichment centres that are perfect for supplementing your child’s education needs.

But what if you do want to shop, relax and indulge a little?

We’ve thought hard about what moms, and dads need when they go to a mall.

Space, comfort, safety, and convenience; that’s what you’ll keep finding as you experience The School. We invite you to explore the space and give us your feed

Built for you

The design of The School is “child-led”. Every access point, corner, and nook was designed with parent and child in mind. Need to do a diaper change? Head to the Mom’s Room. Dads have a place to crash too, and it’s equipped with WiFi, TV, lounge chairs, and of course a space for nappy changes. We know driving moms always have a bundle of stuff such as groceries and strollers to unload, so we’ve made it easier with special parking bays for mothers.
